I’m still in the process of fleshing out extended entries for each of the different genres of gamers that I mentioned in this post about gamers.
Until then, I found the following website EXTREMELY useful for youth workers and parents.
whattheyplay.com is a website devoted to parents to help explain what their kids are playing. They take pretty much all of your new video games and explain them in terms that parents can understand, who have little to no knowledge about games. It also goes to great lengths to explain the ratings of each game and why they were giving that particular rating.
This is a great resource for youth workers because it breaks down the games for you so you can have a conversation with a student about what they’re playing. Be sure to check it out!
